* PMC Survival: You use your main character with any gear that you want to bring into a Raid. You can pick up any gear from other players or AI that you kill, as well as Loot from random Locations. If you die, you lose everything that you brought in and what you've found in the Raid with the exception of the items in your secure container. In order to survive and extract with any gear you picked up, you have to make it to an extraction point.

* Scav: You go into a Raid as Scav, the AI Faction, with a random set of gear. You face off against PMCs and potentially other Scav Players. Any loot gathered by the player as Scav can be transferred to the main character, while dying as a Scav has no penalty. In order to survive and extract with any gear you picked up, you have to make it to an extraction point. If you shoot your fellow Scavs, they will defend themselves. In addition, whether you extract successfully, or are killed in action, ending a raid begins a 20 minute cooldown until your Scav can be utilized again.

In PMC mode, you play as your main character hired by a private millitary company (either USEC or BEAR). You start at the beginning of a raid instance on your selected map, carrying items and gears you have equipped to your character at the stash. As a PMC, you may engage and kill other PMC operators or Scavs. In order to survive the raid and escape with any items you are carrying, you must locate and move into an extraction zone, of which the list is available ingame by double-tapping the 'O' key.
*Hideout: Your main character's base of operations that the player can upgrade through the use of in-game currency, items, and skills that are increased through game play. The hideout offers benefits such as reduced out of raid healing time, item crafting, and a shooting range.

  +
*Offline: You can go into any map in an offline game mode. You can't lose or gain anything. Great for learning maps or practising killing AI.

When preparing to play as a PMC, you will be shown a screen that allows you to enable Offline mode. This gameplay mode is to be used for "...exploration and testing of the location, weapon adjustment, character testing..." meaning that Offline mode is not the main way of playing the game. Offline mode offers further tweaking options, allowing you to enable/disable PvE (AI Scavs), Bosses for each map, weather, time, and more. Any progress, good or bad, will be completely lost upon raid termination. This means that you may disconnect from Offline matches with no penalty whatsoever.

Scav
In Scav mode, you play as a member of the Scav faction. You have randomized gear and equipment, often low quality or unbalanced, and will spawn midway through a raid session without any context or information of what's happening around you. Despite this, Scav run has its own advantage; AI Scavs will not aggress you unless you do so first, and will even cooperate with you on rare occasions. Additionally, Scav loadouts are essentially free, meaning that unlike a PMC run, you do not risk anything you own when you play as a Scav. However, Scavs must locate and move into extraction zones just like the PMCs in order to survive the raid and transfer any loot you may have gathered. In addition, you cannot progress your PMC while playing as a Scav; Any XP you have earned will be lost, and you may only complete "Find in raid (item)" tasks.

In summary:

* You spawn midway through a raid with limited information around you

* You may engage PMCs and Scavs, but Scavs will not aggress you first

Implemented game modes

PMC

In PMC mode, you play as your main character hired by a private millitary company (either USEC or BEAR). You start at the beginning of a raid instance on your selected map, carrying items and gears you have equipped to your character at the stash. As a PMC, you may engage and kill other PMC operators or Scavs. In order to survive the raid and escape with any items you are carrying, you must locate and move into an extraction zone, of which the list is available ingame by double-tapping the 'O' key.

In summary:

 • You have full control over your loadout, configurable in the stash
 • You may engage PMCs and Scavs
 • You must extract to keep any items you earn
 • Upon death or timeout, you will lose everything you brought into the raid except for your melee weapon and the contents in your secure container
 • Experience points you earn in raid will count towards your level progress
 • You may complete tasks

Offline mode

Offmode

Gameplay screen showing an option to toggle and tweak Offline mode.

In summary:

 • Core gameplay remains the same as a PMC raid
 • You will not encounter other players (both as PMC operators and Player-controlled Scavs)
 • You have an option to enable spawning of Scav AI enemies
 • Any progress, loot, XP and stats you have gained or extracted with will be lost upon raid termination
 • You may disconnect from Offline raid in any way with no penalty

In summary:

 • You have randomized gear and loadout, rerolled for every Scav raid
 • You spawn midway through a raid with limited information around you
 • You may engage PMCs and Scavs, but Scavs will not aggress you first
 • You must extract to keep any items you earn
 • Upon death or timeout, you will lose everything you had on your Scav character
 • Experience points you earn in raid will be lost
 • You cannot complete any tasks except for finding certain items in raid
