The PB pistol is a handgun in Escape from Tarkov. PB stands for Pistolet Besshumnyy (Russian: Пистолет Бесшумный), literally meaning in English, "silent pistol". The GRAU index of the pistol is GP9.
The PB was designed by A. A. Deryagin for the KGB, OMON, and the Soviet Army and put into service in 1967. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the PB remained in service within a few post-Soviet states, such as Belarus, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, and a number of other nations like Syria.
The PB is based out on the Makarov (PM) pistol. An integral suppressor is used by the PB, which consists of two parts, unlike most suppressor systems. This allows the pistol to be carried and kept concealed without the front part of the suppressor attached, allowing for quick deployment for use. The pistol may also be fired safely without the additional suppressor attachment, which may be important in critical situations. Without the front attachment, the pistol has a similar sound to the PM pistol. The detached suppressor is carried in a special compartment of the holster which was designed for the PB.
The PB pistol's firing mechanism and design is based entirely upon that of the PM pistol. Because the front part of the barrel is covered by the suppressor, the slide is very short, such that it does not allow placing a return spring into it. For that reason, the spring is in the grip, and acts on the slide by means of a long lever. The sights are fixed and not adjustable.
The PB pistol is one of the first weapons in the game not present in Escape from Tarkov's predecessor, Contract Wars, a PvP multiplayer game also by Battlestate Games (as Absolutsoft)viar
